Santé, an AI-powered software platform for independent wine and liquor retailers, has raised $15 million in Series A funding led by FINTOP, with participation from returning investors Bonfire Ventures, Operator Collective, Y Combinator, and Veridical Ventures. The round follows a $7.6 million seed announced earlier this year and signals an ambitious shift for the company: moving beyond software that reduces administrative work toward software that actively generates business. Santé currently serves nearly 1,000 retailers representing $2 billion in annual gross merchandise volume, giving it a substantial base of commercial activity to build on. CEO Darren Fike framed the evolution plainly—what began as a mission to eliminate operational headaches for independent retailers is now a push to „build a growth engine that proactively drives sales, re-engages lapsed customers, and actively boosts the bottom line of our customers.”
That pitch lands in a market where growth has become harder to find. U.S. spirits supplier revenue declined 2.2% to $36.4 billion in 2025 even as sales volume rose 1.9%, according to the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, with premixed cocktails and spirits-based ready-to-drink products standing out as a bright spot while other major categories fell. For retailers, moving more product no longer automatically means earning more revenue, which puts greater weight on assortment, pricing, and customer retention. Santé’s strategy starts with unifying those parts of the business into one system spanning checkout, inventory, e-commerce, delivery orders, marketing, and subscriptions—alongside alcohol-specific details like wine vintages, bottle and keg tracking, and mix-and-match case discounts. Those features may sound mundane next to the promise of autonomous AI, but they explain the investment thesis: useful automation depends on understanding how the merchant’s business actually works, and fragmented or outdated data can simply help a retailer make the wrong decision faster.
Santé’s product suite builds on that data foundation. Invoice tools scan distributor invoices and update inventory quantities and unit costs within minutes, supplying fresher inputs for price recommendations. A merchandising agent analyzes item-level sales data and suggests pricing and promotional strategies for slow-moving goods, helping merchants free up cash tied to unsold inventory—though the economics require care, since discounts can accelerate sales while shrinking per-bottle profit. A marketing agent groups shoppers by purchase history and launches email and text campaigns, potentially connecting an oversupply of a particular wine with customers who regularly buy similar bottles. A scheduling agent uses store-level sales patterns to match staff across roles with expected demand, and the platform consolidates delivery orders from DoorDash, Uber Eats, GrubHub, and Instacart into the point-of-sale system while generating online catalog descriptions and images.
For FINTOP, the appeal centers on specialized software combined with embedded financial services. „It’s rare to find a founder and team at this stage that have both proven the solution is superior and are executing at an elite velocity in a massive, complex vertical,” said Brittani Roberts, the FINTOP director who leads the firm’s Vertical SaaS and Embedded Fintech thesis, adding that store owners are „getting an intelligent platform that directly expands their profit margins and operational scale” rather than just another inventory tool. The $15 million round is ultimately a bet that a specialized software provider can turn the daily records of a neighborhood business into real growth—and that owning the operational system positions Santé close to the information needed to decide what to promote, to whom, and when.
